I get the hesitancy to claim a label when you’re not completely sure of it yourself. This is especially prevalent in the aro and ace communities because how do you prove a negative? Maybe you will meet someone in twenty years and feel that proverbial spark. But here’s the truth: it doesn’t matter.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a phase!! You are living in this body, in this moment, in this label right now. Who you are now matters just as much as who you might be.

Poison IV would just make you itchy.

That’s right!

Hopper’s plushie is now available, so you can have your own personal menace storming around your home, hoarding your valuables and being really-really cute!! (Don’t mention that last part though)

Bring her home here!

There’s 3 days left to order! The campaign is an one-time thing so the plush won’t be returning!

When you equate books, baseball, and medicine in your college essay…

Required to define five traits that make up a masterpiece, I added an addendum. Which says:

I would like to add that if it achieves the “Banned Book” status, it is automatically elevated to Masterpiece. Like in baseball, the batter is given a free pass to first base if the pitcher hits the batter with a pitch. So if they hit a book with “banned,” then the book has a free pass to be considered a masterpiece because it has evoked some people’s ire and is, therefore, effective in some way. Furthermore, a masterpiece shouldn’t have to meet every criterion listed, just as you don’t need to display every symptom of an illness, disorder, etc., to be diagnosed.

Analogies are great!

with the help of the AAA discord I’ve gotten this far with figuring out what all the flags on the new pride scene are. So here it is!

I’m missing a couple of them and would love it if anyone could help me out here, but the vast majority have been identified.

There’s so many of them, woah

EDIT: gender questioning and polyamorous have been figured out. Also accidentally misread the two-spirit flag as a generic pride flag. Don’t know how I missed the feathers on that one

image

Update! We figured out all but one. (The one between polysexual and demigirl)

What bothers me a little is that there doesn’t seem to be a rainbow flag, and the one I originally thought was the rainbow flag actually is two-spirit. I would’ve loved it if the gilbert-baker rainbow flag was included.

Nonetheless still, MASSIVE props to staff for this. This is a huge amount of flags and together with the pride vistas it’s so much more than most coorporations even dare to include in their branding. I’m genuinely so happy overall.

Update, the last one was indeed the unlabeled flag!

So that means we figured out all of them :D

Thread with a list of all flags typed out: https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/frd/3249543/1

The water lilies might also be the xenogender flag, I’ve not included it in the image but I wrote it down in the thread anyways.

Again, thanks so much to staff and everyone who helped me figure this huge scene out. I hope this helps people find their flag more easily 🌈

Tightly Woven Baskets Intertwine Invasive Plants and Weeds into Adorable Miniatures

Just to say that this is the work of the UK-based artist @foragedfibres (instagram, Facebook) and that she often uses native British plants that she collects without damaging the environment, like dandelion stems, flag iris, English Ivy, etc. She also uses plants that behave invasively, like bindweed. But in general she is using indigenous UK plants that are overlooked and/or unwanted, and harvesting them ethically.

I want to share some wisdom from my high school art teacher.

In my AP Art class, there was a girl who was just starting to experiment with mixed media. At this point she was still playing around, trying to decide what direction she wanted to go with her portfolio. So one critique day, she brought in an abstract canvas with some rhinestone highlights and painted and real peacock feathers. She loved sparkles and peacock feathers so she thought she’d try introducing them a *little*. And after everyone had given some input, the teacher gave her his advice, VERY roughly paraphrased here:

“So here’s the thing… I do not like this style. These are just elements that do not speak to me personally, but I see that you like them, and you’re doing interesting things with them.

“My biggest critique is, I only merely *dislike* this piece. I want you to make me HATE it. Go crazy with the things that you like. Don’t hold back trying to make it palatable to people like me. Because I am NEVER going to like it. And if the audience does not like it, it should drive them crazy seeing how much YOU love it.”

Her portfolio was chock full of neon colors and glitter and rhinestones and splashes of peacock feathers and it was a delight. Our teacher despised every piece lol, but she got great marks and I think even won some awards. And more importantly, she was happy and proud of the results. Because she didn’t limit herself by trying to appeal to people who were never going to enjoy what she enjoyed.

Takeaway here: be as cringe as you want. Don’t limit yourself based on other ppl’s tastes. They’re not you, and you are incredible 💕
